Just a few minutes’ walk from Interlaken West station, the nostalgic cable car takes you up the Heimwehfluh. The mountain offers a wide range of adventurous activities for young and old alike, from a sledging run to a playground.

The nostalgic cable car, which is over 100 years old, takes you from Interlaken up the Heimwehfluh in only four minutes. The base station is easy and quick to reach. Several car parks are available in the immediate vicinity and Interlaken West station is only a few minutes’ walk away. The short drive, with its views over Lake Thun, the town of Interlaken and the surrounding villages is unforgettable and well worth undertaking. The locals affectionately refer to the flood plain between Lake Thun and Lake Brienz as the “Bödeli”. It formed over the course of many centuries after the retreat of the Aare Glacier at the end of the last ice age.

Heimwehfluh offers experiences for all ages: The children can let off steam in the adventure playground while the parents enjoy a culinary treat or a coffee in the panorama restaurant, which offers refined cuisine that covers all options from small snacks up to catering for lavish celebrations. Other attractions are the model railway show and a sledging run. The sledging run is open from April to October, whatever the weather.
