You are only allowed to park your car in official parking spaces and buy a ticket. Parking is not permitted in private spaces. This will expose you to a fine. Parking is only permitted in the marked parking spaces for an appropriate fee (ticket). It is forbidden to park vehicles outside of parking spaces.

All passengers of every age must use the seatbelt. Children under 12 years and less than 150 cm are to be secured as follows: People over 12 years or over 150 cm secure themselves with the existing straps.

there are many roads in Switzerland which are crossed by the railway! Make sure to stop your car before the railroad barrier as it is life-threatening and prohibited! A railroad crossing in Switzerland looks like this: To avoid dangerous situations:

When traffic stops, always stop your car at the white stop line before the railroad crossing so that your vehicle is not blocked by unexpectedly lowering barriers! If the red flashing lights turn on, stop immediately at the white stop line (before the cross-ing). The red flashing lights mean “stop” for everyone, including pedestrians. The engine is to be shut off.

It is white, without interruptions and adapts to the course of its gray, paved environment: the safety line. This simple line fulfills an important function, as it serves to separate the opposite lanes or certain areas from each other on the road. Therefore, if the security line is illegally crossed in Switzerland, there is a high fine or even a fine if the police discover this violation. The vignette must be applied to the inside of your windshield according to the enclosed instructions, before you cross the Swiss border. The motorway vignette is not valid if you leave it on the dashboard or if you use tape to apply it. You risk paying a fine and having to purchase a valid vignette if you haven’t applied it properly. It is not allowed to use the vignette on another vehicle when you’re done traveling.
The vignette is valid for a calendar year, regardless of when you purchase it. You may use it for 14 months: from December 1 of the previous year to January 31 of the next year. There are no daily, weekly or monthly vignettes.

In case of no signalling set up, the following speed limits apply in Switzerland. In city centres the speed of 30 km/h applies in many areas. Regular speed checks take place. Failure to comply with traffic laws and general laws may result in a fine im-posed by the police. These fines are not negotiable. Traffic fines in Switzerland are generally heavy. For example, driving 61 km/h instead of 50 km/h in a town costs CHF 250. You’d best stick to the rules and avoid fines.
